Job Title Chemistry Assistant Professor (Full-Time Temp. - Winter/Spring)
Job Description

The chemistry instructor will have primary responsibility for teaching freshman and sophomore level academic transfer science courses in chemistry, with emphasis in Allied Health courses and their associated labs (CHEM 121 and 131).

The successful candidate will advise students, participate in curriculum and program development, participate in professional development, engage in assessment activities, participate in college activities, or including, attend faculty and committee meetings, and perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties Summary
Required Qualifications

• Master of Science degree in Chemistry or related field.
• Experience teaching at the college level.
• Experience in an educational lab setting.

Preferred Qualifications

• PhD in Chemistry or related field.
• Experience teaching at the freshman and sophomore (community college) level.

Other qualities:
• Demonstrated ability to serve the needs of students who represent a broad spectrum of ages, abilities, ethnicity, education and cultural backgrounds.
• Awareness of own cultural values and biases.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with peers.
• Experience advising students.
• Demonstrated ability to participate in professional and community service activities.

EMPLOYMENT
This is a full-time, two quarter (winter and spring) temporary faculty appointment with employment expected to begin starting January 2, 2018 and is subject to legislative funding. Placement on the established faculty salary schedule is dependent upon education and teaching experience. The State of Washington provides a comprehensive benefits package for all state employees.

Centralia College faculty are represented by the Centralia College Federation of Teachers, Local No. 4469, AFT/AAFL-CIO and, in accordance with the faculty agreement, “All full-time faculty members, as a condition of continued employment on or after the thirtieth day following the beginning of such employment, shall become members of the Federation OR pay a representation fee to the Federation.”

DEADLINE
The screening committee will begin its review on October 23, 2017. Position is open until filled.
